1. Information we collect

1.1 Information you give us

When you fill out our quote form, our free estimate form, or contact us by phone or email, we collect:

You choose what to share. If you would rather not give a phone number, email us instead, and we will work with that.

1.2 Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our web server and hosting provider record basic technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you viewed, and the date and time of your visit. We use this to keep the site running, diagnose problems, and understand which pages are useful. We do not try to identify you personally from this information.

1.3 Information we do not collect

We do not ask for and do not want your Social Security number, your driver's license number, your bank account or card numbers, or your credit history through this website. If a project reaches the stage where financing is involved, that process runs through a separate lender or finance partner under its own agreement and its own privacy policy, and you will be told before anything is shared.

2. How we use your information

We use the information you give us to:

• respond to your quote, estimate, or general inquiry
• schedule and prepare for a site visit or consultation
• prepare and send an estimate or proposal
• communicate with you about a project we are working on together
• keep records of our work, estimates, and correspondence as our business and our contractor obligations require
• comply with the law, including California contractor licensing and record-keeping requirements

We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not feed it into third-party advertising systems.

3. Your phone number and how we contact you

We treat your phone number as one of the most sensitive things you give us, so we want to be specific about it.

We use your phone number only to respond to the request you submitted. If you ask for a quote, we call or text you about that quote. If we are mid-project together, we may call or text you about scheduling, access, deliveries, or a question from the crew.

What we do not do with your phone number

• We do not sell it, rent it, license it, or trade it. Not to other contractors, not to lead-generation companies, not to lead aggregators, not to data brokers, not to list brokers, not to marketing agencies, not to anyone.
• We do not share it with third parties so that they can market to you.
• We do not add it to a promotional text or robocall list.
• We do not use automated dialing systems or prerecorded voice messages to call you.
• We do not send you promotional or sales texts, seasonal offers, or discount campaigns.

If you would prefer we contact you only by email, tell us and we will note it on your file. If you ever receive a message from us you did not expect, reply STOP to a text or tell us on a call and we will stop contacting you at that number. You can also email office@kanbuildersinc.com and ask us to remove your number entirely.

Standard message and data rates from your own carrier may apply to texts you exchange with us. Agreeing to be contacted is never a condition of getting an estimate or hiring us.

4. We do not sell or share your personal information

To state it plainly and without qualification:

We have not sold or shared personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising in the preceding twelve months, and we do not sell or share the personal information of anyone we know to be under 16 years of age.

Under California Civil Code section 1798.83, the "Shine the Light" law, California residents may ask a business to disclose personal information it shared with third parties for those parties' direct marketing purposes. Our answer is that there is nothing to disclose, because we do not share personal information for third-party direct marketing.

5. Who we do share information with, and why

We share your information only where it is necessary to run our business or to do the work you hired us for, and only with parties who are limited to that purpose.

Service providers who work on our behalf. Our website form and customer records system, GoHighLevel, receives and stores your form submission so our team can act on it, and our email provider carries our correspondence with you. These providers handle your information only to provide their service to us. They are not permitted to use it for their own marketing or sell it onward. Each operates under its own privacy policy and security practices.

People working on your project. If you become a client, we may share the details a job requires, for example, your name, site address, phone number, and relevant project specifications, with the subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, designers, or inspectors working on your build. We share the minimum needed to do the work, and we do not share your information with trades who are not involved in your project.

Legal and safety. We may disclose information where the law requires it, in response to a valid subpoena, court order, or government request, to comply with California contractor licensing obligations, or where disclosure is necessary to protect our legal rights, enforce an agreement, investigate suspected fraud, or protect someone's safety.

Business transfer. If KAN Builders is ever sold, merged, or reorganized, client records may transfer as part of that transaction. Any successor would remain bound by the commitments in this policy for information collected under it, and we would post notice on this page.

That list is exhaustive. If a category is not on it, we are not sharing your information for that purpose.

6. Cookies and website analytics

Our site uses only the cookies necessary to make pages load correctly and to keep forms working, along with the routine server logs described in section 1.2.

We do not currently run third-party advertising pixels, retargeting tags, or cross-site tracking on this website. If that changes, for example, if we begin running paid search or social campaigns and need conversion tracking, we will update this policy before those tags go live and name the specific services involved, including what they collect and how to opt out.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Because our cookies are limited to site function, blocking them may prevent our forms from submitting correctly, but it will not otherwise limit your access to the site.

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. There is still no industry standard for how to respond to it. Because we do not track visitors across other websites, our practices are the same whether or not you send the signal.

7. How long we keep your information

If you contact us and we do not end up working together, we keep your inquiry for up to 24 months, because homeowners often return to a project a year or two later, and it helps to have the history. After that, we delete it.

If we complete a project for you, we keep the project file, contract, estimates, and related correspondence for as long as California law and our insurance and warranty obligations require, which for construction work can be a number of years. We keep these records to stand behind our work, not to market to you.

You can ask us to delete your information sooner, and we will do so unless we are legally required to keep a specific record.

8. How we protect your information

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the information you give us: encrypted connections on our website, access limited to the people who need it, and reputable providers for our form handling and email. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we do treat client information as confidential, and we do not leave it lying around.

Please do not send sensitive financial information such as account numbers or card details through our website form or by plain email.

9. Your choices and your rights

You can, at any time:

• Ask what we hold. Request a copy of the personal information we have about you.
• Correct it. Tell us something is wrong, and we will fix it.
• Delete it. Ask us to delete your information, subject to records we are legally required to keep.
• Limit how we reach you. Ask us to use email only, phone only, or to stop contacting you altogether.
• Withdraw from a list. Unsubscribe from any email we send using the link in that email, or just reply and tell us.

To make any of these requests, email office@kanbuildersinc.com or call (858) 264-0358. We will respond within 30 days. We will not charge you, and we will never treat you differently, refuse service, or change your pricing because you exercised a privacy right.

A note for California residents

The California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives California residents rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and applies to businesses that meet certain revenue and data-volume thresholds. KAN Builders is a small local contractor and does not currently meet those thresholds, so we are not obligated to follow that framework. We have chosen to honor the requests listed above regardless, because we think that is how a business should treat the people who contact it. Since we do not sell or share personal information at all, there is no "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" mechanism to provide. If our business grows into those thresholds, we will update this policy and add the required mechanisms.

10. Children's privacy

This website is meant for adults making decisions about their homes. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we do not market to children. If you believe a child has submitted information through our site, contact us at office@kanbuildersinc.com, and we will delete it.

11. Links to other websites

Our site may link to other websites, for example, our profiles on Houzz, Angi, or Google, manufacturer product pages, or the California Contractors State License Board record for our license. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices. This policy covers only this website.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the revised version here and update the effective date at the top. For a change that materially affects how we use information you already gave us, we will note the change prominently on this page. We encourage you to check back before submitting a new form if it has been a while.
