Design-Build Studio in San Diego County
Outdoor living, considered end to end.
One firm for design, permits, and construction, so your remodel is drawn, approved, and built by a single accountable team.
A-710 · Our Story
Built by people who draw before they build
Most remodeling problems are not construction problems. They are decisions nobody made on paper, discovered halfway through a demo, priced as a change order.
KAN Builders was set up the other way around. An architect draws your project first, so the layout, the structure and the finishes are settled before a permit is pulled or a wall comes down.
By the time our crew arrives, the drawings answer the questions. That is the whole idea, and it is why the estimate you approve is the one you pay.
A-720 · The KAN Difference
Design, Permits and Construction Under One Team
“The plan you approve is the project you get. No handoffs, no crossed wires, no finger-pointing between firms.”
A-730 · Our Team
The people behind the plans
Architect, project manager and crew, all in one office.
The same people you meet at the walkthrough are the ones on your job.

TRUSTED BY SAN DIEGO
They handled design, permits, and the build without us chasing anyone. The kitchen finished on the timeline they gave us in week one.
The renderings meant we knew exactly what we were getting. What we walked into on the final day looked just like the drawings.
Our project manager sent updates every single week. After the stories we heard from neighbors, this felt genuinely different.

Questions About Working With Us
Is KAN Builders licensed, bonded and insured?
Yes. We hold California CSLB License No. 1157690 as a licensed general contractor, carry a contractor's bond, and hold general liability and workers' compensation coverage. You can verify the license and its status directly on the CSLB website, and we will send current certificates of insurance with any proposal. Ask every contractor you talk to for the same three things.
What does design-build actually mean for me?
It means one contract instead of three or four. Our licensed architect draws the plans, our team runs the permit submittal, and our crew builds what was drawn. You are not the go-between when the drawing and the site disagree, because both are ours. In practice, it shows up as fewer change orders and one person accountable for the schedule.
Who is actually on my job site?
Our own project manager and site superintendent run the job every day, alongside our carpenters. Licensed specialty trades such as electrical, plumbing and HVAC are subcontracted, which is standard and legally required for some scopes. We name the trades on your project up front, and we do not swap them mid-job without telling you.
Which areas of San Diego County do you serve?
All of it, from Oceanside and Carlsbad in the north through Chula Vista and National City in the south and inland to Escondido, El Cajon and Santee. If you are not sure your address is covered, ask, and we will confirm before you spend time on a consultation.
Do you stand behind the work in writing?
Yes. The terms are in your contract before you sign, not summarized on a website. If something we built fails inside that window, we come back and fix it.
