Exterior Remodeling in San Diego County

Outdoor living, considered end to end.

One Contractor for Everything Outside Your Home

Most exterior remodels stall because the work is split across trades. A landscaper who does not pour concrete. A deck builder who does not touch drainage.

KAN Builders handles the whole exterior as one scope. One plan, one schedule, one point of contact.

Grading, hardscape, structures, planting, and finishes are sequenced in the right order, so nothing has to be torn out and built twice.

Materials Chosen for San Diego Living

Every material is specified for how it holds up here, not how it photographs.
Coastal salt air, inland heat, hard water and a long dry season all shorten the life of the wrong choice.
The palette is settled on paper before the first delivery arrives.

Natural Stone Stone selected for slip resistance and color that holds under direct San Diego sun.
Concrete & Pavers Concrete and paver systems chosen for load, drainage and how the surface ages.
Wood & Composite Structural and composite decking rated for coastal exposure and low maintenance.
Metal Accents Metal detail used in pergolas, railings and gates, finished to resist salt corrosion.
Outdoor Tile Tile for patios, entries and pool surrounds, rated for wet and freeze-free conditions.
Integrated Lighting Landscape, path and architectural lighting designed into the plan, not added after.

The renderings meant we knew exactly what we were getting. What we walked into on the final day looked just like the drawings.

Our project manager sent updates every single week. After the stories we heard from neighbors, this felt genuinely different.

Exterior Remodeling Questions, Answered

How much does exterior remodeling cost in San Diego?

It depends on scope. A single trade such as a paver patio or a fence usually lands in the low five figures. A full backyard or front yard remodel that combines hardscape, structures, planting, and lighting typically runs from the mid-five figures upward. We price every project from a measured plan, not a square foot guess, and the estimate is itemized so you can see what each part costs.

How long does an exterior remodel take?

Most single-trade projects finish in one to three weeks on site. Whole yard remodels usually run six to twelve weeks, plus design and permitting ahead of that. Your schedule is set before work starts and updated weekly.

Do I need permits for exterior work in San Diego County?

Often, yes. Retaining walls above a set height, structures with footings, electrical, gas lines and anything affecting drainage generally require a permit. Rules vary by city, and coastal zones add another layer. We pull the permits for the work we do and tell you upfront what your project needs.

Can you handle the whole exterior, or just one part?

Both. Homeowners come to us for a single deck or a single driveway just as often as for a full exterior remodel. When the project spans several trades, having one contractor sequence it is what keeps the budget and the schedule intact.

Which exterior upgrades add the most value?

Usable outdoor square footage and curb appeal do the most work. A covered patio or outdoor living space extends the house, and a resolved front yard is the first thing a buyer or appraiser sees. Drainage and structural repairs add less visible value but protect everything else you spend.

Do you work across all of San Diego County?

Yes, from Oceanside and Carlsbad down through Chula Vista and inland to Escondido, El Cajon and Santee. If you are not sure your address is covered, ask, and we will confirm.
